They can see your power before even inviting you, and should know how long it takes, even with two builders and using all the boosts you get, to get to the power levels they want, so I find it rude that they do that.
Then for others, they invite you to join their alliance, then kick you in less than an hour for having too low of power. Many people play for a day or two or get to only a couple hundred thousand power then leave, and many of them join an alliance before then, so it just takes up alliance members space and only gives the alliance the boost of having some dead power in it. The game is good, but you can't get far solo, and unfortunately much of the community sucks. The app offers a number of for-purchase items, such as packages of gems that can be used to buy resources, which range from $0.99 to $99.99 - but kids can play without buying anything. Kids are told to build a tavern to help them recruit commanders in the game, but drinking isn't glorified. But partially due to the scale of the game's map-like layout, you can't see too many specifics or gore. There's some violence in the game - kids send troops out periodically to fight groups of barbarians.
Some historical facts are also introduced at times about figures like Imhotep. They try to help out other areas that are under attack in the game and will get experience multitasking and making decisions.
Kids get some ongoing guidance, though, as they play. A guide walks kids through the basic gameplay elements - although there's a lot of ground to cover, and items are presented in quick succession, which can be a little confusing. Parents need to know that Rise of Kingdoms is a strategy game for iOS and Android devices.
